Obituary for Lloyd Campbell Chilton, Jr.

Lloyd Campbell Chilton, Jr., 93, of Wilmore, KY, formerly of Turners Station, KY peacefully passed away on April 20, 2019 at Wesley Village in Wilmore, KY. He was born on December 10, 1925 to the late Lloyd C. Sr., and Corinne Wilson Chilton in Turners Station, KY.
In 1944 Lloyd was drafted into the United States Army and deployed to France during World War II. Traveling to the eastern border of France on the Rhine River, Lloyd, along with the 63rd Infantry Division fought to drive the Germans back into Germany. After the German surrender, Lloyd spent one more year in the service working to repair phone lines. While in France Lloyd was proud of snow skiing on the French Alps. Returning home to Kentucky, he enrolled at University of Kentucky where he received his bachelor’s in journalism. For thirty-eight years Lloyd worked tirelessly as Editor for MacMillan Publishing Co, and another four years for Scholastic Publishing Co. until he retired in 1995. Lloyd enjoyed UK Wildcats basketball and Cincinnati Reds baseball. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading, especially spy novels and US History, Lloyd enjoyed traveling, traveling to Italy, China and France were some of his favorite memories.
He leaves to mourn his passing, his children, Marc Chilton and his wife Joanne of N. Royalton, OH, Dana Chilton Mackie and her husband Andy of Clinton, NY, Todd Chilton and his wife Angel of Indianapolis, IN, Jeffrey L. Chilton of Weehawken, NJ; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one great-grandchild on the way and a host of beloved family and friends all of whom will miss him dearly.
Lloyd is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Maryann Bradford Chilton; one brother Donald Chilton and one sister-in-law Jan Chilton.
