Obituary for Ronald McCane

Ronald McCane, age 70, of Milton, KY, died on Friday, April 17, 2020, surrounded by his loving family at his home. Mr. McCane was the youngest of nine children born to James Louis and Anna Mae (Smith) McCane.
Mr. McCane began working at the age of fifteen following the death of his parents. He held a variety of jobs, of which one was with US Shoe Company in Madison, Indiana. It was there that he met the love of his life, Debbie Welch. They fell in love quickly and together raised three wonderful children, Steven, Anna, and Glenn. He later spent many years at Rex Chainbelt/Rexnord/US Filter/Siemens in Madison performing factory work.
It was during this time he began spending time in public service, starting as a volunteer firefighter in the Milton Fire Department, and eventually named chief of the department. He further served as a founding member of the Trimble County Search and Rescue and named as its director for a time. He also served as a state deputy fire Marshall and state fire instructor. He continued to serve his community as director of Trimble County Emergency Management until his retirement in 2016, to spend more time with family and friends.
Left to grieve his loss is his wife of fifty-two years, Debbie (Welch) McCane; one daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Jeff Hawkins of Carrollton, KY; two sons and daughters-in-law: Steven and Gina McCane of Lexington, KY, and Glenn and Stephanie McCane of Denton, TX; three sisters: Nancy Geyman, Emma Harmon, and Janice McCane, all of Bedford, KY; two brothers: Frank McCane of Bedford and his twin, Donald McCane and his wife, Carol of Milton; five grandchildren: Taylor McCane and Gabriel McCane of Lexington, Carmen Kyle of Carrollton, and Danielle and Emma McCane of Denton; two great-grandchildren: Bryson Hankinson and Maya Kyle, both of Carrollton; several nieces and nephews; and countless friends in the community who are grateful for his tireless, selfless work for his fellow man.
He was preceded in death by his parents: one sister, Evaline Aldridge; and two brothers: James Eckler McCane and Louis Jr. McCane.
